Hurray for longer evenings! What better way to celebrate the hint of summer on the horizon than with the launch of the Growing a Greener Britain annual funding pot, providing up to £50,000 for green Spacehive projects.

As the sun sets later and shines brighter, we can enjoy being outside more and imagine long afternoons of throwing a frisbee between friends, reading beneath a tree or turning a kebab on the barbeque. All that’s needed is a beautiful outside space to enjoy it. That’s where the Growing Greener Britain initiative can help.

Maybe you want to plant flowers in your local park? Or start your own community orchard? Organise a river clean up? Or create green space where there is none by introducing flowers, plants, trees and grass to the streets of Britain? This is your opportunity to make it happen. Growing a Greener Britain is offering up to £5k per project to assist you in your crowdfunding, making it easier than ever before to allow your great, green idea to blossom.

The fund will award pledges to projects at the end of each month and has already supported some fantastic campaigns since its launch last week, including a green house made of recycled plastic bottles, a children’s playground at South Norwood Lake, and a project to restore a nature classroom in the Litten Nature Reserve.

To find out more visit the Growing a Greener Britain Hive here.

To apply for a pledge to your green space idea, simply upload your project to Spacehive, select the Spacehive project category ‘Green Space’, request to join the GGB Hive, and start your crowdfunding campaign. It’s as easy as that!
